WISDOM WEDNESDAY: LONG DISTANCE RUNNING TIPS

Assalamualaikum and greetings everyone!

As you know, we launched #runnersppmk last week, and here are some tips to improve your running skills.

  1. For those trying to run more than 5 km, make sure to drink nearly 1 liter of water the night before your run to keep yourself hydrated throughout your running.

  2. If you want to improve your pace, alternate your run with 300 meters of sprinting and 100 meters of a slow jog for a minimum of 1 km, then gradually increase it.

  3. To make sure you are running at an optimal pace, try to say a complete sentence while running.

  4. Increase the weekly mileage by no more than 10%. This approach will reduce the chance of injury as you increase your workout load.

  5. Wait at least two hours after a meal before running.

  6. Running shoes is very important. Try to get light and highly cushioned shoes.

  7. If you find difficulties with the above breathing technique, you may inhale and exhale through your mouth instead.
